I'M STILL ALIVE

I'm back from a two-year stint working in the 'real world' and looking forward to writing new music and getting back in the studio in 2016.

Lots of other exciting things are in the pipeline, but for now - hello, I've missed you, and it feels good to be back.

More soon.

My "Tour Booking" Article on CDBaby!

Pioneers of online DIY distribution CDBaby have shared my Tour Booking Timeline with the world...in case you haven't seen it yet, it is right over here.
The site I initially created it for, Pyragraph, publishes articles for artists of all mediums who are interested in pursuing careers for themselves rather than hobbies.  I've been on the road for quite a while and haven't been contributing as often as I would like to, but I have still been able to enjoy their stories from my iPad on long van rides.

Tour Tour Tour!

Dates will be added as they are confirmed.  If you live within 100 miles of a confirmed show and would like to host a house show, please contact us at shenandoah.davis@gmail.com.

Shenandoah Davis and Anthonie Tonnon met in Auckland in the spring (or fall, depending on which hemisphere you're in) of 2012.  They became instant fans of each other.
This fall, they will be embarking on a tour throughout the western half of the US, and this winter/summer, they will be embarking on a tour through Australia and New Zealand.  For this first leg, here are the places they will be appearing.

New Thing #2: Shirts Shirts Shirts!

Designed by Shannon Perry (Seattle's favorite tattoo artist and former singer of one of my favorite Seattle bands, KHV), I'm pleased to be selling these shirts that have previously only been available at shows online.

As always, if you live in Seattle and would prefer to pick one up directly from me in lieu of paying for shipping, please shoot me an e-mail to discuss alternatives.

Putting Advice Into Print

I recently got a job working for Pyragraph, which is a fantastic arts career magazine focusing on the day-to-day of what being a professional artist looks like.  I recently had my first feature published, which you can read here.

I'll be taking my own advice (or rather, I have been taking it) while preparing to hit the road again in September after about a year of tour hiatus (as long as you don't count those three trips to California, two trips to the East Coast and two trips to Colorado as wrecking the hiatus).  I'll be bringing Anthonie Tonnon, a great musician and songwriter from New Zealand, along for the ride.  You can get better acquainted with him and his music here.
I'll be announcing our dates soon, but as always if you'd like to host a show, we'd like to play.  We're traveling roughly between Seattle, San Diego, Denver, and Chicago.

Also my husband Sean Nelson  released his debut solo record on June 4th, and is officially celebrating its release in Seattle at Neumo's on Wednesday, June 26th.  I'll be playing keyboards and beaming with pride.  Hope to see you there.

West Coast Best Coast House Shows and More

While I've been trying to curb my traveling bug while I hunker down and finish writing a new record's worth of songs, a couple of neat opportunities came up for me this spring, so after my shows with Mirah next weekend, I'll be packing my little dog in the back of a borrowed Prius and driving down the West Coast.  While the end destination is The Fillmore in San Francisco, the dates in between seem to have magically filled themselves in quite nicely.
Most of these shows are house shows, so e-mail me (shenandoah.davis@gmail.com) if you or someone you know would like the address and more show info.

  • FRIDAY, 4/26: Cottage Grove, OR - The Axe & Fiddle
  • SATURDAY, 4/27: San Jose, CA - House Show
  • SUNDAY, 4/28: Modesto, CA - House Show
  • WEDNESDAY, 5/1: San Francisco, CA - House Show
  • THURSDAY, 5/2: San Francisco, CA - The Fillmore (Robyn Hitchcock's 60th Birthday Show!)

New Thing #1: The Wings

The Wings is the new thing.  It's square. It's clear.  It's got a doily on it, and also one song.  It's screen-printed.  It's lathe cut.  What does all this mean? It means that it is really fancy and cool.  What else does it mean? Someone explained it to me, but it didn't make a lot of sense.  At any rate, these things are very attractive looking and contain a very special recording that only myself, the devil, David Strackany, and a couple of others have heard.  Without giving too much away, I will say that the sounds on it are a nice bridge from the swooning strings on 'The Company We Keep' to the next record I'll be making.  It's for sale in the online store, and I'll be setting a few aside for my upcoming shows with Mirah in case you would rather buy one in person.

The person who made these is called Michael Ryan Dellinger.  He's good at making things.  You can look at other things he has made here.

Also, international shipping rates are ludicrously high now.  I'm really sorry about that.

Welcome!

It's been a busy spring so far...filled with new work, new bandmates, new artistic collaborations, and some new baby plants growing in my apartment that will hopefully turn into tasty food before we hit summer in full swing.

To go with all of these other new things I've been working on, here is a new website.  Much of it is still in progress, but over the next few weeks it will also grow into a streamlined, good-looking dot of the Internet.

I hope to be updating this fairly regularly, but in the meantime, I certainly hope to see those of you who live in Seattle at St. Marks Cathedral on April 20th, where I will be opening for Mirah and The Moondoggies (and those of you who live in Portland at The Doug Fir with the same lineup on April 19th.
